Welcome to the virtual home of Streatham Darby and Joan Club, founded in 1942, we are now the last remaining independently run older people’s day centre in the London Borough of Lambeth. The club is run from “Woodlawns” a beautiful Victorian villa, also home to the Lambeth Asian Centre and Make A Difference Black Afro-Caribbean Group.

Working with our partners, Age Concern Lambeth, Lambeth Council, the Lambeth Asian Centre, and the Make a Difference Black Afro-Caribbean Group we aim to provide a richly diverse social experience. Activities include Bingo, Crafts, Line Dancing, Cultural celebrations, day trips and Computer Classes to name a few.

The coming year will be an exciting one for us, we have a lot to look forward to. Alongside our partners we aim to be at the forefront of service delivery via a Communities Hub providing information, advice and support to older people, the cared for and their carers all in one tailored venue. Work has been completed on our Sensory Garden Annexe giving us much needed additional space for our growing activities programme.

Our premises are available for hire, not only for wedding ceremonies, as we are a licensed venue, but also for all manner of prestigious social and community events and private parties.

We will work tirelessly to ensure the highest standard of service provision for older people and carers in our community. Above all else we will continue to listen to our members, older people and carers to ensure that we provide services which promote independence, improve health & well-being and make life a more enjoyable and rewarding experience.
